Expofeira 2026 Highlights Amapá’s Agroecological Future
MACAPÁ, Amapá — Producers from Amapá (AP) took center stage at Expofeira 2026, the state’s flagship agricultural and agroecological fair, presenting a vibrant array of sustainably grown products that reflect the rich biodiversity and family-farming heritage of Brazil’s northernmost region.
Held over three days at the Parque de Exposições in Macapá, the event brought together more than 150 farmers, cooperatives, and indigenous groups. Booths featured certified organic açaí and cupuaçu pulps, native pepper, fine-flavor cocoa, tropical tubers, honey from native stingless bees, and artisanal oils—all cultivated without synthetic inputs and aligned with agroecology principles.
“This is about valuing our land, preserving our culture, and showing that agroecology is a viable, profitable path for family farming in the Amazon,” said Maria Santos, a third-generation farmer from the interior of Amapá and representative of the Associação dos Produtores Agroecológicos do Estado.
The fair also served as a platform for knowledge exchange. Technical workshops on agroforestry, composting, and participatory certification were conducted in partnership with the Amapá Institute of Agricultural Research (IAPA) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). Officials reiterated policy commitments to expand credit lines, technical assistance, and organic certification support for small-scale producers, aligning with Brazil’s broader agenda for sustainable food systems.
“Expofeira 2026 marks a turning point,” noted Governor Clécio Luís during the opening ceremony. “We are investing in our producers not only as guardians of the forest, but as key actors in the national and international food market. The products presented here today represent the future of Amapá’s rural economy.”
With rising domestic and international demand for transparent, low-impact foods, the producers left Expofeira 2026 with new sales agreements, expanded networks, and a renewed commitment to positioning agroecology at the heart of Amapá’s development strategy. The event concluded with a pledge to expand next year’s edition, incorporating more territorial chapters and digital tools to connect rural growers with urban consumers and export chains.
